The A7 IV is an option for photographers who want a full-frame interchangeable-lens camera for stills and video. Sony specifies a 33MP sensor and in-body sensor-shift stabilization. Think about the lens you will carry as well as the body: a compact prime and a large zoom make very different everyday kits.
Confirm the model from photographs of the body and its menu, especially when a seller abbreviates the name. A7R IV, A7S models, A7 III and A7C II are separate products. A listing mentioning A7 IV only as a compatible camera may be for a cage, battery or other accessory. Confirm that the advertised package includes a working camera body.
Sony specifies E-mount lenses for the A7 IV. Check whether an included lens covers full frame; an APS-C lens is not the same purchase as an FE lens. Get the complete lens name and inspect glass, focus and zoom operation. Compare body-only offers separately from lens bundles, then include batteries, charging equipment, shipping and tax in the delivered cost.
Ask for current full-size photographs and test autofocus at different distances. Check the sensor and mount, articulating-screen hinge, viewfinder, dials, card recording and battery compartment. If you shoot video, make a recording in your intended mode and test the audio and connection ports you need. Ask about repairs and any shutdowns or intermittent faults; a short clip cannot prove how a camera behaves over a long session.
The A7 IV’s Creative Look controls let you choose a finish and adjust its rendering in-camera. Try a built-in look on familiar subjects before assuming that a new camera or a RAW editing workflow is necessary. Verify the selected file format and transfer an original JPEG. Our SOOC guide explains the capture-to-sharing workflow without color grading.
Ask what the seller’s grade means for this particular item, what is included and whether the photographs show the actual camera. Read the return and warranty terms. Dealer multi-grade starting prices are not direct equivalents to a private seller’s single body. A lower asking price may come with missing equipment or fewer protections; compare what you would actually receive.
